Bagua Turtle and Ying Yang Fish is a published pamphlet regarding the one-off clothing collection of the same name.
In September 2018, I found pieces of beautiful Chinese fabric in blue in a strange, small bookstore in an alley in the SongShang District right next to the exhibition venue of Taipei Design City(2018). Later I learned that the bookstore is called Echo and it was at the same bookstore the “Echo of Things Chinese” magazine was edited and published. The blue fabric is called Jia Xia, a cloth created with traditional resist dyeing using carved wood boards as stencils. The cloth, usually folded a number of times, is inserted and clamped between two boards. When unfolded, the pattern dyed in two halves become one. It is a technique that was popular during Tang dynasty in China but was believed to have vanished during Song Dynasty(960-1279AD).
